Zelda Breath of the Wild Ancient Horse Armor - Where to Find the Ancient Horse Armor in BOTW DLC Pack 2
This is our guide on how to get started with the Zelda Breath of the Wild Champions' Ballad DLC pack.
The Champions' Ballad DLC pack brings a ton of new things to do and find for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild players, one of which is the addition of horse armor. In this Zelda Breath of the Wild horse armor guide, we'll be walking you through tracking down every piece of horse armor there is to find in Hyrule, as easily as possible.
Breath of the Wild Ancient Horse Armor
As soon as you boot up The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild after installing the new Champions' Ballad DLC Pack 2, you'll hear the voice of Zelda herself, instructing Link to take down several new challenges. One of these new challenges is the EX Ancient Horse Rumors, which Link can undertake regardless of whether he's conquered the four Divine Beasts from the main game, unlike the main story quest from The Champions' Ballad.
The EX Ancient Horse Rumors quest instructs Link to head to the Highland Stable in southern Hyrule, the nearest Shrine to which is Ka'o Makagh. Read the book on the table inside the Highland Stable, and Link will be instructed to find two items, which he is pointed to under the follow instructions:
- South of Hyrule Ridge, beneath a cherry blossom tree at a mountain where creatures gather.
- At a mysterious spring where a horse spirit resides.
How to Find the Ancient Bridle in Breath of the Wild
The Ancient Bridle item in the EX Ancient Horse Rumors quest can be found exactly in the same location as the Lord of the Mountain (the best horse in Breath of the Wild). Just south of Hyrule Ridge is Satori Mountain, and although you need to go to the mountain at night to find the Lord of the Mountain, you can find the treasure chest containing the Ancient Bridle right under the cherry tree at any time during the day or night.
Simply fast travel to the Mogg Latan Shrine, or make your way to Satori Mountain if you haven't already discovered the Shrine, and head to the northern area of the mountain, where you can see the cherry tree by a pool of water from just about anywhere. Head to the base of the cherry tree, activate your Magnesis Rune, and you'll be able to pull the treasure chest containing the Ancient Bridle out of the ground.
How to Find the Ancient Saddle in Breath of the Wild
As for the Ancient Saddle part of the EX Ancient Horse Rumors quest in the Champions' Ballad DLC Pack 2, you'll actually need to head back to Ka'o Makagh Shrine, near to where you first began the quest. From here, you'll need to head where the Great Horse Fairy resides, just east of the Horse God Bridge, which itself is directly south of the Highland Stable.
To reach the Great Horse Fairy, head south over the hill directly behind the Shrine, and then paraglide your way to the bridge leading over the spring that you can see. From here, head east, and you'll find yourself faced with Malanya Spring, the home of the Great Horse Fairy. Instead of interacting with the Fairy itself, head round the back of the central pool of water, and activate your Magnesis Rune, uncovering the chest buried in the ground and claiming the Ancient Saddle for yourself.
If you're wondering how to equip the new Ancient Horse Armor to a horse that Link owns, head back to the Highland Stable, and make sure you have a horse boarded. Now talk to the person just to the right of the stable that's tending to the horses, and she'll offer to change your horse's gear, but only if your bond with them has reached maximum level. If you have a horse boarded with a maximum bond, then you can simply equip the Ancient Bridle and Ancient Saddle on your horse, and then roam around Hyrule with your stylish mount.
