Ni no Kuni 2 Tactics Tuner Guide
To find the Tactics Tuner settings page in Ni no Kuni 2, simply press the middle button on the Dualshock 4 to pause the game, and head down to the ‘Tactics Tweaker’ option, where you’ll be take to the rather complex page that you can see pictured just below.
There are now four sections of the Tactics Tuner that you can play around with, each of which we’ll break down for you just below:
- Monster Affinities - Lets you boost damage dealt to specific types of monsters.
- Elements and Ailments - Here you can increase both elemental damage and status ailments dealt.
- Arts of War - Adjust settings that can improve your entire party’s abilities in the middle of battle.
- Spoils Settings - Tweak the benefits you gain from defeating certain types of enemies.
The types of enemies that the Tactics Tuner page is referring to are featured all throughout the game, from Wyvern enemies in Cloudcoil Canyon, all the way to Grimchilla Clasher enemies found basically everywhere in Ni no Kuni 2. Basically, you’ve got to choose a type of enemy to prioritise for each of the four entries we’ve mentioned above, and then increase the gauge to increase the corresponding damage dealt or benefits gained from defeating them.
To increase any of the attributes in the Tactics Tuner settings, you’ll have to spend Battle Points, which you can see in the top right corner of the screen. You can earn Battle Points for every successful battle that Evan and co. win, and you can then take these points and spend then to increase the overall level of one of the four categories in the Tactics Tuner. For every level you increase a category by, you’ll get one point to spend however you wish. For example if you level up the Monster Affinities category, you’ll then have a single point to put towards a damage boost against slimy, solid-body, natural, reptilian, beautiful, or brutal enemies.
It might be a fairly long grind to accumulate enough Battle Points to successfully effect the Tactics Tuner (as we mentioned in our Ni no Kuni 2 review, it doesn’t exactly have the greatest impact on the game). But the Arts of War and Spoils Settings can be excellent if used correctly, as they allow your party to gain boosts in critical areas.
Ni no Kuni 2 Best Tactics Tuner Settings
First of all, we’d strongly recommend levelling up the Arts of War section of the Tactics Tuner at least four times, as soon as you’ve got the Battle Points to spare. You’re going to want to level up Brutality, which increases your heavy melee attack power, Untouchability, which increases your invulnerability while you’re evading, your Durability which allows you to block more powerful attacks, and Dynamism, which increases the amount of MP restored by using certain items and taking damage.
Starting off with the Arts of War section is great, but you’re then going to want to turn your attention to the Spoils Settings, which you’ll want to max out at level four as soon as possible. You’ve now got four attributes that you can boost, which include the amount experience, money, rare equipment, and rare materials you stand to gain from each and every fight in Ni no Kuni 2. We’d recommend flipping two of these switches to point towards increased money gained from battle, one switch towards XP gained, and finally one switch at the bottom pointing towards increased rare gear earned from battle.
With these Tactics Tuner settings for both the Arts of War and Spoils Settings, you’ve definitely got an advantage towards important areas of Ni no Kuni 2, namely money earned from battle and the blocking and dodging skills of your companions.
