Far Cry 5 Outpost Locations Guide
Outposts are locations across the map of Far Cry 5, that have been repurposed by the Eden’s Gate cult. They make for formidable combat challenges if you’re hoping to take one out, and you’ll need to kill all Eden’s Gate personnel within the Outpost in order to full liberate it, including any reinforcements that the cultists call in.
Just below, you can see that there are Outposts spread out fairly evenly across the whole map of Far Cry 5. Jacob, John, and Faith all have a total of seven Outposts in each of their respective regions of the game, and for each one you conquer, you’ll gain plenty of Resistance Points, as well as loosening the respective ruler’s grip in their region.
How to Clear an Outpost in Far Cry 5
When you go to take down an Outpost, you’ve got two options: go in loud, or go in quiet. Taking the stealthy option is definitely harder, as you’ll need to successfully sneak around the entire Outpost, killing every single Eden’s Gate cultist before you can count the Outpost an liberated. However taking down the Outpost through stealth eliminates the possibility of reinforcements being called, which is almost a given if you choose to go in all guns blazing.
Speaking of taking the more offensive option, you’ll need to stock up on ammo and medical supplies if you want to take down an Outpost through sheer force. You’re going to come up against a lot of elite infantry in an Outpost, including soldiers with flamethrowers and heavy machine guns, so it’s a good idea to make sure you’re stocked up on Medical Kits, as well as grenades and dynamite to get rid of heavy infantry quicky.
You’ll also want to make sure you’re taking in an ally if you’re taking down the Outpost head on. If you scroll over to the Roster tab of the pause menu in Far Cry 5, you’ll be able to see a complete list of every Gun/Fang for Hire that you’ve unlocked so far over the course of the game. Head over to our Far Cry 5 Guns for Hire guide if you need help on unlocking allies, but you’ll definitely want to assign Cheeseburger or Boomer to an ally option, on your D-pad, if you’ve unlocked either of them.
One great tactic to save up enough money to purchase a helicopter, and then use the vehicle’s weapons to clear out an Outpost. It’s by no means a walk in the park, and reinforcements will still be called fairly regularly, but you should consider raining down fire with machine guns and rockets on the Outpost to clear it out fairly quickly.
Once you’ve eventually liberated an Outpost, you’ll gain access to a new recruit from the location, as well as a vendor that will sell you weapons, ammo, and clothing items for your character. If it was a significant Outpost on the map, like the Baron Lumber Yard, then you’ll free characters like Jess Black from the clutches of Eden’s Gate.
