After Mortal Kombat 11 Rumors, Ed Boon Reminds Fans He Just Loves Spelling Things With "K"
But anyways, Mortal Kombat 11 is probably happening.

We're approaching E3 season. You've probably noticed with all the leaks and teasers dropped by the likes of Walmart, Bethesda, and more. NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon is no stranger to the fun—in fact, yesterday he cheekily tweeted what some perceived to be a teaser for an incoming Mortal Kombat 11 announcement.
The tweet itself reads "You know what ELSE would be kool…?" in response to a fan asking about Injustice 2 DLC. There's a few key indicators here. The most obvious is that "kool" is spelled with a "K," much like Mortal Kombat. The tweet Boon is replying to is also in response to another quote tweet of Boon's calling attention to the spelling of the social media measurement service Klout shuttering. ("At least they knew the proper spelling," reads Boon's original tweet.) However, Mortal Kombat was absent from that big Walmart E3 leak from earlier in the week.
News sites, obviously, picked up on the passed around tweet. Earlier today, Boon clapped back at the publication Destructoid writing, "Oh kome on!! We’ve been using K’s for 25 years now." After a quick Twitter search of Boon's history, he has spelled words with the correct "C" instead of "K," which still makes the original tweet highly suspicious. You can't fool me, Mr. Boon.
Given NetherRealm Studios' history of operating on a two-year release schedule, an announcement for Mortal Kombat 11 wouldn't be surprising. Last year Injustice 2, the grim fighting game for the DC Universe, released to critical acclaim. Now we're approaching a time where the world needs a refreshed Mortal Kombat after 2015's release of Mortal Kombat 10, and it wouldn't be surprising to see it make an appearance either at E3 or before it.
In the meantime, it's not like Injustice 2 is completely dead, even with lackluster sign-ups at EVO 2018. Recently the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joined the game's expansive roster of familiar heroes and villains.
