Zelda Link's Awakening Dream Shrine Walkthrough - How to Beat the Dream Shrine

Here's how to find and complete the Dream Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on Switch.

Although you can unlock the Dream Shrine quite early on in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, you won't be able to get very far in the shrine without one key item. In this Zelda Link's Awakening Dream Shrine guide, we'll be detailing how you can enter the Dream Shrine, and how you can make your way through the shrine as quickly as possible.

Zelda Link's Awakening Dream Shrine Requirements

It's really easy to miss, but the Dream Shrine is located at the northern end of Mabe Village. You won't be able to enter it at the start of the game however, because it's blocked off by boulders. To move the boulders and enter, you need to conquer the Bottle Grove dungeon, which gives you the Power Bracelet and allows you to pick up heavy objects.

When you're in the Dream Shrine, you can opt to lie down in the bed, and you'll instantly find yourself transported to the inside of the Shrine itself. In the Dream Shrine, there's a walkway running around the outside of the small Shrine, which are filled with enemies that mimic Link's movements, a bit like the Shy Guys in Bottle Grove.

In order to pass through them quickly, without falling through the crumbling floor of the Dream Shrine, you need the Pegasus Boots. These are acquired through the Key Dungeon, and are an essential item for conquering the Dream Shrine.

How to Get the Ocarina in Link's Awakening

But once you have obtained the Pegasus Boots and the Power Bracelet, you're free to go through the Dream Shrine. The trick to getting through the Dream Shrine is holding L to spring through the enemies, so you run quickly to keep the floor from collapsing.

You can spring around all four sides of the Dream Shrine, and you'll eventually come to two stairways leading up into the middle of the Shrine. On the right, there's a chest that contains 100 Rupees, but on the left, there's the fabled Ocarina.

Grab the Ocarina, and you're all done with the Dream Shrine. You're now free to venture back into the overworld of Link's Awakening, and as the game suggests, it's time for Link to learn some tunes on his brand new instrument.
