You can't transfer save files from one Nintendo Switch to another, or to an SD card
Right now, game sale files stored on a Nintendo Switch cannot be moved anywhere else.
With the Nintendo Switch day one update out in the wild, those with access to a console have been combing through system menus to see if there are any new options that weren't there before.
While yes, the update did add features to the console, such as the return of friend codes, and support for SD cards, it did not change the save game situation. That is to say, you don't have any control over your save files, outside of deleting them.
Multiple reports have confirmed that you can't bring your save files to another Switch console, or even back them up to an SD card. There's no cloud save feature, and Nintendo hasn't announced any on the way, so your saves are stuck on the same console you start the game on for now. Interestingly, game cartridges do not store save files.
Although this is far from being Nintendo Switch's only problem when it comes to outdated and inconvenient features, this one in particular caught people by surprise.
The reason for this is that Nintendo is allowing players to redownload games to other consoles, since purchases are tied to the Nintendo ID. In this situation, even though you can redownload your content on another console, or the same one after resetting it, your saves will be not come along.
