You can buy Destiny 1 Silver on Steam, but we're not sure why [Update]

Though we're getting ever closer to the launch of Destiny 2, something weird is happening on Steam that concerns the first Destiny.

Update: Although the Steam Database links are still accessible, the purchase links no longer are.

Original story: The game's Silver, a real-money currency that lets you buy emotes and other items, has popped up on Steam's database. The original game was never announced for PC, of course, so it's very curious that someone, somewhere is testing the same game's microtransactions on Steam.

NeoGAF members spotted this earlier, revealing a long list of updates to the same Steam database app. The most recent one took place on August 4.

What's more, there are actually two links you can use to purchase Silver, one for $0.01, and another for $20, the latter gets you 2000 Silver.

The pages look very legit, and apart from charging money, they reference Bungie and the Eververse Store in a way that suggests whoever created them either works for the developer, or has access to the studio/developers.

Bungie recently ended support for the first Destiny, so it's doubly bizarre this is showing up now, considering Destiny 2 won't even be on Steam.

It's probably best not to read too much into the listings, even if it's tempting to think that Activision is planning to release some version of the first Destiny on Steam. Entries for Halo 1-3 were found on Steam's database long ago, and nothing came out of that.

While yes, this is more tangible than the Halo database entries, it still doesn't confirm anything. Activision could simply be testing the implementation for some other game, or as part of a plan to bring Destiny 2 to Steam at some point in the future.
