Yooka-Laylee Toybox codes sent to Kickstarter backers - here's a complete playthrough of it
Yooka-Laylee backers who chose tiers on Kickstarter which included the Toybox or Toybox+ should be receiving codes today.
If you aren't familiar with it, Toybox is s self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox trial which gives Yooka-Laylee backers "a taste of the platforming to come in the final game."
Arekkz was one of the backers who received his key today, and he livestreamed a playthrough on YouTube.
The video is a complete play through showing him collect all 100 Quills, which is one of the main collectible items in the game. Plus, if you watch, you will also see him access the secret area at the end.
Created by Playtonic Games from scratch, Toybox was offered to backers as an option different from a traditional. In the full version of Yooka-Laylee, the environments will be more vast and detailed than the "intentionally-simple playground" found in Toybox.
There will also be far more moves, animations and general polish.
Developed by former Rare studio members, Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series which launched on Kickstarter May 1, 2015.
Within mere hours, the 3D-platformer met its initial funding goal of $270,000, eventually earning £2,090,104 (approx. $2.7M) by the end.
Yooka-Laylee is slated for release in Q1 2017 for Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U.
