Yar's Revenge remake trailer shows off on-rails gameplay

When you remake an Atari 2600 game, you know it's going to end up looking pretty different. Even so, the trailer for Yar's Revenge is probably not what fans of the
original sch'mup were expecting - not that we care. Schwing.

Gone are the days of strangely relatable alien housefly protagonists; Yar's Revenge now stars a young lady in a flying mecha. Rather than battering away at a shield between you and your target, you'll be whipping the cursor around as the on-rails gameplay carries you from one bright environment to another.

So that's quite different. But also kind of cool. RPS had the trailer, which is embedded below.

This is at least the second trailer for the downloadable title, so you should be over your shock by now. Yar's Revenge comes courtesy of KIllSpace Entertainment, a studio formed almost entirely of ex-Pandemic and Obsidian staffers, so worth keeping on eye on, I should say. Still no release date beyond "early 2011", though.
