Yarnton: 3DS launch line-up announcement "not that far away"
Nintendo UK boss David Yartnon has confirmed that an announcement of day one titles for 3DS in the UK is "not that far away".
In what's been called the "biggest" hardware launch ever by the company, Yarnton didn't give exact details as to when we'd see said announcement.
"The big thing is that we’re launching globally, all within a month," he told VG247 at the publisher's Amsterdam 3DS showcase yesterday.
"I don’t think there’s any format holder that’s ever done that, to launch within one month all around the world.
"Obviously, logistically, everything’s being pumped out, and it’s a matter, even for the developers, as to what’s going to be ready at launch, what they’re going to do, and the timing of it, so we’re a little bit in their hands."
Yarnton added that as the launch comes closer, it would have "a better idea" of what to expect.
"As we get closer we’re going to have a better idea of what’s there. But all the titles, 25-30 titles in the launch period, is the biggest support we’ve had for any hardware launch. It’s not that far away that we’ll be able to confirm dates and things."
The publisher confirmed that it would release 30 titles for the system's launch period between launch and E3 in June.
Nintendo confirmed a March 25 launch for 3DS in Europe. Price was not confirmed by the company, but has left it up to retailers to price it. It's thought to cost within the region of £219-£229.
It'll launch in the US for $249 on March 27.
