Xenoblade Chronicles X is not a small game.

This week's Famitsu has a feature on Xenoblade Chronicles X giving some details on Monolith Soft's next RPG and first Wii U game.

According to Siliconera's translation of reports on the feature, the game's map is about five times the size of that in Xenoblade Chronicles.

The whole open world is traversable on foot or by flying mechs - a faster option - but to help navigate this larger area players have access to fast travel, activated via the Game Pad screen.

The Game Pad also hosts database entries including current quest information. This will help you keep track of the open-world quest structure, which is different from the traditional linear approach of past Xeno games.

There are a much greater number of items to collect this time, with full completionist play clocking in at about 300 hours in the current build.

Elsewhere in the feature, director Tetsuya Takahashi stressed that X is not a direct sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles, which is why it's not called Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The X refers to the connection between players, although details on the "loose" online play are still to be confirmed.

There are a few more details through the link above.
