Unlike PS5, Xbox Series X will support "all" Xbox One games, says Microsoft
Xbox has reiterated how backwards compatibility will work on Xbox Series X.
With the recent reveal that only the top 100 PS4 games will work on PS5 at launch, fans have been looking for some clarification from Microsoft about whether Xbox Series X has the same limitations.
Microsoft's message with Xbox Series X has always been one where backwards compatibility played a key role, but the platform holder never specified whether every Xbox One game would work on Xbox Series X, or a select few.
In a series of Tweets, the Xbox official account clarified that players' "entire libraries" of Xbox One games will work on Xbox Series X.
"Bring your favorite games with you to Xbox Series X! Simply connect your existing external USB hard drive to Xbox Series X and your entire library is instantly accessible," the tweet says.
Storing Xbox One, and backwards compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on a USB drive is one of the ways you could expand Xbox Series X's storage capacity. That said, USB drives will only work with the older games; you'll need another form of media to store native Xbox Series X games.
"When you say all games are backwards compatible for the Xbox Series X does that mean every Xbox game ever made or just the ones that are currently backwards compatible?" asked one follower, to which the reply was, "All games that are currently backwards compatible, yes. Plus all Xbox One games."
