Xbox One update allows for player-created tournaments, Dolby Atmos support, more
A light update for Xbox One was released this week. Here's everything it did.
Microsoft has released a new update to Xbox One, and Windows 10. The update, which is live now, expands the Arena feature and makes several improvements to the recently launched Looking For Group, Party chat, and more.
First up, Tournaments. Players will now be able to create their own tournaments through Arena in Killer Instinct. There's now a new tab called Tournaments in the Game Hub for Arena games, which is where you'll find upcoming tournaments so you can register for them.
A notification will be sent directly through the console or the Xbox app on Windows 10 and mobile. Looking for Group is seeing some updates, too, and you'll now be notified when someone you follow creates an LFG post.
You're now also able to set an on overlay so you always see who's speaking in your Party, even when the Guide isn't up, similar to the way PC voice chat apps like Mumble and Discord have been doing it.
The Dolby Atmos app is now available on Xbox One as part of the update. The app simply enables the feature for Atmos-enabled audio equipment. You can also pay for a version that brings support to any headphone if you want.
