Microsoft has posted financial results for its third quarter, ending March 31 2016.
The company doesn't reveal sales for its consoles any longer, but it did mention Xbox Live monthly active users (MAU) grew 26% year-over-year in the same quarter to 46 million during the period, which is down compared to numbers announced in January.
In its Q2 2015 report back in January, Microsoft said MAU for Xbox Live were up 30% percent year-on-year to 48 million.
In October 2015, the company stopped releasing unit sales figures for Xbox One. Xbox box Phil Spencer said earlier this month the firm felt sale numbers weren't a "good metric to source" when determining a console’s popularity.
Revenue for More Personal Computing (MPC) - the sector covering Windows, Devices, Gaming and Search- reported a 1% increase to $9.5 billion.
For the company as a whole, the biggest highlight for Q3 FY16 was its cloud annualized revenue exceeding $10 billion and Surface revenue increasing by 61%. It also highlighted Windows 10 is now installed on over 270 million devices.
Revenue came in at $20.5 billion with net income hitting $3.8 billion.
Microsoft announced this week production of Xbox 360 would cease after 10 years on the market, but it would still support users.
A call to investors will be held this evening, and should anything interesting come out of it, we'll be sure to let you know about it.
