Xbox, Kindle, OLPC veterans behind new $99 Android console

Introducing the Ouya - a cheap, "hackable" Android-based gaming console put together by some very interesting people.

The Verge reports the $99 console hooks up to your TV, but that's where the resembalance to traditional consoles ends.

Rather than a closed, proprietary developer ecosystem, the Ouya is completely open - ever user will have access to a development kit, all games will be free, and anyone can publish games.

It sounds a bit anarchic, but there are some very clever people onboard, including Yves Behar of the One Laptop Per Child project, Muffi Ghadiali from Amazon's Kindle team, and Ed Fries, who is often called father of Xbox.
