Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2 will not be developed by Playground Games
The freshly announced Forza Horizon 2, will be coming out on Xbox One and Xbox 360. A decision that has led to some fans worrying that releasing the game on last-gen will compromise the Xbox One version.
UPDATE: Microsoft has now officially confirmed that the Xbox 360 version will be based on the Forza Horizon engine and will be developed by Sumo Digital. The Xbox One version will be based on the Forza 5 engine and will be handled by Playground Games, as previously announced.
It has only been a few hours since the Forza Horizon 2 announcement this morning, and fans are already scared of what releasing on old-gen might do to the game's vision. IGN's Ryan McCaffrey has said on Twitter that another studio -currently unnamed- is handling development duties for the Xbox 360 version of the game.
Playground games will only be handling development of the Xbox One version which shares the same engine with Forza 5.
This practice is going to be occurring more and more as we head to into this console generation, as lead studios will be focusing their efforts on the main, usually current-gen version, while outsourcing porting duties of last-gen versions to other third-party studios.
Do you think releasing on old and current-gen will compromise the quality of the game?
