Worms 3 releasing on iOS devices in Q3, first details here

Worms 3 developer Team 17 has confirmed that he next instalment in its long-running series is heading to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in the third quarter.

Polygon reports that the game will include 27 single-player missions as well as that classic brand of Worms multiplayer set across 'Forts' and 'Deathmatch' modes.

Multiplayer offers local 'pass-and-play' on a single device, as well as ranked and friendly matches. The game also supports AirPlay on Apple TV for up to four players.

The level themes have been confirmed as Beach, Spooky, Farmyard and Sewer, and there's also three new weapons confirmed so far, namely, Canned Heat, Nora's Virus and the Black Hole Grenade.

Worms now fall into either Heavy, Scientist, Scout and Soldier classes, each packing abilities and perks. There's even a new Playing Card system that sees players building custom decks of up to 41 cards that each bear attributes and impact how your squad performs. It's an entirely optional layer however, as it can be turned off before matches.
