World of Warcraft's lead systems designer "Ghostcrawler" announces his departure

Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street, lead systems designer on World of Warcraft, has announced he is leaving the firm to pursue a "great opportunity for something new and exciting".

Street announced his departure on Facebook, and he posted the following message via MMO Champion:

"I have been at Blizzard Entertainment for almsot six years. It has been epic and I have made many friends around the world and I have learned so much. But, I have a great opportunity for something new and exciting, and sadly it is time to move on.

"The game community will likely find out today, so I wanted you all to hear it from me first.

To all of you in my Blizzard family, inside the company and out, thank you for everything. We will keep in touch. You have made me love my life."

Street started out working for Ensemble Studios developing for the Age of Empires franchise until he was hired on by Blizzard in 2008.

He was well-known within the WoW community, and even had a pet named after his handle, Ghostcrawler, in the game. It's a spectral crab featured in the Cataclysm expansion, and comesd armed with a Nerf Bat.

Thanks, digmouse.
