World of Tanks dev opens Tokyo office
World of Tanks developer Wargaming has opened a new publishing office in Tokyo, Japan in recognition of the country's important in the games industry.
GI.biz reports that the Tokyo site is Wargaming's 15th office, and will help launch World of Tanks across Japan.
Wargaming Japan GM Yasuhiro Kawashima said in a statement, "Being part of the Wargaming family, as they continue their dominance of the free-to-play market, is truly exciting. We look forward to helping expand Wargaming's presence in Japan now and in the future."
Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi added, "As Wargaming continues its global expansion, there's no possible way we can ignore the importance of the Japanese market. Besides being one of the largest video games markets in the world, it's also a place where free-to-play gaming is growing by leaps and bounds.
"We'll be staffing our new Tokyo office with the best and brightest from the country, all with the goal of providing our players there with an incomparable customer experience."
Meanwhile, Wargaming is gearing up to announce a new console game at E3 2013, currently in development at Wargaming West, formally Day One Studios.
