World of Tanks dev launches North American eSports league, registration now open

World of Tanks studio Wargaming has launched a North American eSports league for its free-to-play title. Say hello to The Wargaming.net League North America.

Caleb Fox, Wargaming.net North America's head of eSports said of the announcement, "World of Tanks is a perfect match for eSports, thanks to its addicting combination of team-based tactics and intense action. The launch of the Wargaming.net League North America is going to give all of our players in this region their chance to show that they have what it takes to be considered the best of the best."

The league will play out across three seasons, and will see players battling for a share of a $100,000 prize pot. Match-ups will take place in 7-on-7 skirmishes, and will cap tanks a and point spend to make sure everyone is balanced.

Registration opens today, May 29 at the World of Tanks site, and season one will kick off from June 5 when qualifiers begin. They'll run until June 23, and winners will then enter the group stage matches between July 11-27, any tiebreakers will be held July 28, then the season final will commence between August 17-18.

The finals will be broadcast online, and we'll have details on where you can watch them nearer the event.
