World of Darkness inspired by PC classic Bloodlines
World of Darkness producer Chris McDonough has said Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a major influence on CCP's upcoming MMO.
McDonough was speaking to World of Darkness News in a video interview.
The producer also said that pen and paper RPGs are natural material for MMOs, as they highlight player characters, not specific heroes. Because of this, CCP plans to focus on interaction between players, since there is no games master to tailor the experience.
McDonough confirmed CCP still has a full development team on board the game, despite the company's admission that the project bas been pushed slightly onto the back burner.
The MMO's story will delve into the politics and backstabbing that goes on between rival vampire clans, and CCPO chose to highlight just one supernatural race so as to be able to provide more depth at launch; the latest World of Darkness role paying scenario also provides primary source material for werewolves and mages, as well as changelings, alchemically altered monsters, hunters and geists. Prior to the canon's reboot, it had rules for ghosts, mummies, and demons as well.
