Windows Phone 7 Mango update detailed
Microsoft has detailed some of the new features of its upcoming Windows Phone update, Mango.
Gamasutra reports the update, which is due in northern Autumn, will make compatible Windows Phone handsets HTML 5-ready with integrated Internet Explorer 9 and Silverlight 4.
Multitasking and background support are also on the way, as well as a notification system for apps not currently foregrounded.
A number of additional API features will allow app creators to use the phone's inputs and outputs more fully, including cameras and compass, as well as information stored in the handset's memory, like contacts.
A new web-based store will allow you to browse and download Windows Phone apps on your PC before transferring to your phone.
Microsoft has begun a developer beta of the new firmware.
