Wii U shortage will boost Xbox 360, PS3 sales in the short term - analysts
Wii U sold 400,000 units during launch week "essentially selling out" at retail, but launch week was also Black Friday weekend, and sales of Xbox 360 blew past the new console offering by selling 750,000 units moved over the weekend. Does a console late in its lifecycle outselling a new offering spell doom and gloom for Wii U? Not just yet according to EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich who said it's "probably a dead heat" as to whether the Wii U or Xbox 360 picked up more users. Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter agrees, stating 360's strong performance only denotes consumers remaining "price sensitive," to the recent cuts and bundles on offer. "Once Wii U supply increases, I expect the console to sell better," he said, but all analysts seem to agree it may not happen until next year. More over on GI International.
