Wow! A lot happened this week. We got our first look at Unreal Engine 5 (and real-time PlayStation 5 footage in turn). Sony showed off an extensive look at Ghost of Tsushima, a.k.a. Assassin's Creed Japan, But By Not Ubisoft. Next-gen is here folks.
To celebrate the busy week of gaming news, we thought we'd talk about what our game series holy grails are. What's a game that, if it were announced, would immediately convince you to pick up a next-gen console just for it? Let us know in the comments, and you can find our team's answers below.

The easy answer from anyone who knows me is an Assassin's Creed game, but the truth is there's never any worry that Assassin's Creed will jump to new consoles. It's a constant, not a driver. So the question is what's missing? What's my Shenmue 3? There's a lot games that twinge me on a low-level—Splinter Cell, Dead Space, or Phantom Dust come to mind—but the one with a hold on my heart is definitely Final Fantasy Tactics, which Square Enix will never touch again on a console. There is Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions on mobile platforms, but it's a free-to-play mobile title with all the nagging and microtransactions you'd expect. I just want a full-fat, proper Final Fantasy Tactics sequel. Like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but with a proper budget, better graphics, and a heaping helping of Final Fantasy tropes.

Part of me thinks that the only exclusive I'd need to see would be one I can't conceive of right now. It'd need to be something new and fresh, that I could only play on a console. But barring that, a new Guitar Hero or Rock Band could be the thing to do it.
Peripheral games usually go for consoles, and it's been impossible to find a drum kit without spending the cash. I hold the controversial opinion that Guitar Hero Live actually had some all right ideas (I like FMV, okay?) and would love to see a new take on peripheral rock. Or, barring that, Persona 6. But I'll feel pretty slighted if we see a sixth Persona before Shin Megami Tensei 5.

Forget the PS5 or Series X. If Nintendo said Metroid Prime 4 was coming to a new model of the Switch only, I'd be sorely tempted to make the leap. If, instead, it was a new 2D Metroid that looked like an improvement on Samus Returns (a bit of a letdown), I would throw down the pre-order money as soon as possible. That helmet gag from the Paper Mario: The Origami King trailer? That was a dagger straight to my chest.

Part 2 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be a big coup for the PlayStation 5. So would a Final Fantasy 16 by Yoshi-P. I'd buy a PS5 for either one. I'd also buy one for Persona 6. I guess what I'm saying is, I'll continue to be JRPG trash into the next generation.

A souped up remake of Persona 3 for next-gen consoles (probably just PlayStation 5) would probably be my "yup, no questions asked, I'll dump money on a new console just for this" game. I'm a simple gal with simple needs. After all, Persona 5 was held back by also being on PlayStation 3, so it never really felt current-gen. Of course, this wish is negated by the fact that I have to own these next-gen consoles for work anyways, but whatever!
