What Game Are You Playing This Weekend?
COMMUNITY QUESTION | Let's keep things simple this week.

This week has felt like the calm before the storm, what with DC Fandome this weekend and Gamescom next week. So far we know that new DC Universe-related games from Rocksteady and WB Montreal will be revealed at the former, with Gamescom's Opening Night event on Thursday to host even more reveals. We'll be covering all the news from both events as best we can.
In the meantime, let's kick back and chat about the games that are currently spinning in our rotations. So tell us in the comments: What game are you planning to play this weekend?

To be entirely honest, I'm playing games I can't talk about. Lots of previews incoming to USgamer, so everyone should look forward to that! Outside of those previews, I'll probably be playing Marvel's Avengers. This weekend is the open beta on PC, PS4, and Xbox, and I'll probably be jumping into the PS4 iteration to see if Crystal Dynamics has improved upon my previous experience. Will matchmaking be better this time around? Hopefully.
As a fan of comics, I find myself drawn to Marvel's Avengers as sort of a mindless online beat-em-up. I don't know if that's enough to keep me playing long-term, but it's a good way to burn a weekend.

I've been working at two games for a while: Final Fantasy 14 (Stormblood is finally heating up), and Trails of Cold Steel 3 for the Switch. Both are tremendously huge RPGs, so I expect I'll continue to pick at them for a while. (I want to get Trails done in time to refresh myself for Trails of Cold Steel 4 this fall.) So there you go—my game plans for the weekend! I haven't been home all week, so I'll have to make up for a lot of cat-cuddling time, too. Busy, busy, busy...

Lately, I've had two games in my rotation: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. You can read some of my thoughts on that new Vanillaware game's prologue here, which is immediately mysterious and engaging. Meanwhile, Modern Warfare is still cemented as a part of my evening routine. My friends gather. We play multiplayer or Warzone. We laugh and get mad at ourselves for being bad. It's still a good time, thanks in part to the new season, even with a new Call of Duty literally on the horizon.
