Well now someone's beaten Prey in like 11 minutes, this is getting ridiculous
Prey has been out for less than a week and the world any% speedrun record is now shorter than morning smoko.
Prey is a fascinating psychological thriller that will take you upwards of 20 hours to really explore and appreciate.
It's also the latest and greatest challenge for speedrunners, apparently, as yesterday's 20 minute any% Prey speedrun record has been shattered.
The new world record holder is YouTuber Bjurnie, whose Prey playthrough, embedded above, clocks in at 10:52. Just how many glitchable walls are there on Talos I? it's probably time the engineering team looked at that. Oh wait, they're dead. Possibly this explains how containment failed so badly?
Half the fun of immersive sims is seeing how you can break them, but this is getting kind of ridiculous. With so many shortcuts found in just a few days, it seems likely some Prey players will wander through them accidentally, maybe missing part of the story on the way. Let's hope Arkane shores up a few of the cheesecake walls in an upcoming update. (Please leave the Prey crafting cheat or rebalance resources, thanks in advance.)
Prey has had a bit of a slow start, releasing late in the week and failing to knock Mario Kart 8 Deluxe off the charts. But Prey reviews have been really solid and some of the Steam user reviews have been especially glowing. We may have a bit of a sleeper hit here.
In which case: don't spoil Prey by watching the video above if you haven't finished yet. Go and try it out yourself first.
