We Happy Few's release has been delayed into summer
The release of We Happy Few has been pushed into summer 2018.
Expected to release in April, We Happy Few will now release at some point this summer.
Compulsion Games said after conducting a thorough review of the game, beginning to end, the studio decided more time than anticipated was needed to polish the game.
The team is also making a few changes to the price of We Happy Few, which is in early access through Steam and Xbox One.
Those who weren't pleased with the price of the game, many of which thought it was too expensive after the price increase during August, can now ask for a refund. This applies to those who purchased on Steam, past and present, regardless of playtime.
Compulsion will also temporarily disable the buy button on Steam as of the end of January, 2018.
"We don’t want new players to have the same frustration, so we’re temporarily disabling the option to buy on Steam," reads the statement.
"We will re-enable the buy button once we’re closer to launch when more info and materials on the game will have been released, giving players more clarity on what they can expect in the full version of We Happy Few."
Along with announcing the delay, the studio posted a development update and introduced a new character named Sally. Not much was divulged regarding the character.
We Happy Few was announced in 2015 and was a successful Kickstarter project before heading into Early Access. the first-person, action-adventure, survival-horror game from Compulsion Games was originally announced for PC and Xbox One.
It has been in early access on Steam, Humble and GOG since 2016 as well as through Xbox One Game Preview.
In August 2017, We Happy Few was announced for PS4 along with a retail version, the latter of which will be published by Gearbox Software's publishing arm.
We Happy Few will be released fully on the aforementioned platforms digitally, and at retail this summer.
