Watch Hideo Kojima talk about Death Stranding right here
Hideo Kojima is on stage today at EGX Berlin talking about Death Stranding, the soon-to-be-released, not-entirely-positively-reviewed PS4 exclusive he's been working on since he left Konami. He'll be on stage from 2pm UK time/10am EST, in conversation with the German film director Fatih Akin about the crossover between games and film.
EGX Berlin is created by VG247 parent company Gamer Network, and is a sibling of the UK's EGX show which is now based in London.
You can watch the stream live on the EGX Berlin Twitch channel, which is below. Those who are there in person can meet Kojima in person after his stage show.
Kirk found the game to be "interesting, incredibly pretty and kind of dull" in the VG247 Death Stranding review, and most of the other folks giving out Death Stranding review scores were similarly qualified in their praise. It'll be interesting to see if Kojima has anything to say on the topic - the game's cinematic influences are obvious from its cast of Hollywood talent including Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro and Edgar Wright, but the storytelling has not been well received by reviewers. In Kirk's words, "if you do manage to hold out, you will be rewarded with flashes of brilliance, it’s just that those flashes are buried as deep as the core story is buried in the endless dialogue."
Death Stranding is out for PS4 on Friday, so you can find out for yourself what you think of it then. A PC version has also been announced, and will be on sale next year.
