Warner to "take it easy" on further acquisitions
Samantha Ryan, senior VP of production and development at Warner Bros, has said the company is starting to slow down on acquiring new and existing IP’s.
The company - which in recent years has acquired Monolith (F.E.A.R.), TT Games (LEGO franchise), NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), and Batman: Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady - has decided that it’s time to tighten the purse strings.
Ryan explained to Gamasutra that Warner will now turn its focus internally.
“We’re going to go through kind of a settling period for a little while, where we’re going to focus on getting all the stuff that we’ve just acquired well-integrated, and really focus on the games,” said Ryan.
“I don’t think you’re going to see a ton more acquisition; maybe a little tiny one as a complementary piece, but aside from that I’m hoping that we take it easy for a while.”
Warner Bros recently announced a new Mortal Kombat game which will be released as part of its extensive line up in 2011.
