Warframe's next update is the insatiably hungry The Old Blood

Don't ruin your appetite - Warframe is about to become an all-you-can-eat buffet with The Old Blood.

Warframe is getting ready to head to space with Empyrean, the game's next big expansion. But before we get there, how about a quick lunch? Warframe's next update adds Grendel, a hungry lad that always cleans his plate.

Despite looking like the Doomslayer crossed with a jack-o-lantern, Digital Extremes promises he's a "noble spirit" with a generous nature. Sure, we believe you.

As Grendal, you'll never want to stop sucking foes into your big tum, gaining an armour boost for every baddie eaten. Each costs energy to store, mind. You'll either want to consume them to give your team a radial buff, or spill them out covered in toxic bile. If Grendel's feeling particularly queasy, he can projectile vomit an eaten foe as a gooey, half-eaten missile.

Grendal can also roll into a ball to bowl through enemies. Seems a remarkably bad idea, all that tossing and turning on a full stomach.

The Old Blood also adds a new villain to the mix, the Kuva Lich. Landing a killing blow onto select Grineer foes triggers their rebirth into a Kuva Lich, a personalised, buffed-up baddie for you alone. You'll have to kill their subordinates to track them across the system, before finally taking them down with a special blade.

That fight should be much more interesting for brawlers, too. The Old Blood introduces phase 2 of Warframe's melee rework, adding heavy attacks, mid-air juggling, combo reworks and re-introducing manual blocking.

The incoming update also brings the usual haul of new cosmetics, balance changes and more, all of which can be found on The Old Blood's announcement post. While the update doesn't quite have a release date, it'll be on PC "soon" with consoles to follow.
