Vita sales quadruple following Japanese price cut
Vita hardware sales have somewhat unsurprisingly surged in the wake of a price reduction in Japan.
According to a Japanese report from a One Piece: Pirate Warriors event, as translated by Gematsu, the news comes directly from SCE Japan president Hiroshi Kawano.
The executive said sales have increased about four times in the two weeks since Sony cut the price of both 3G and WiFi models to ¥19,980 on February 28.
The Vita's weekly sales had stabilised at around 11,000 units two weeks ago, so expect more than 40,000 unit sales when Media Create releases its retail charts later in the week.
No price cut has been announced for western territories, despite the portable console's under-performance.
