Virgin to launch 50Mb broadband in the UK

About bloody time. Virgin's confirmed plans to launch a 50Mb broadband service in Britain, following recent trials in Ashford, Folkestone and Dover. The first step in moving up to the faster speed will be upgrading low-end users, Virgin told GI.

"We're moving everybody from the 4MB service to the 10MB service from February onwards, and this will help us to achieve better results that competing ADSL options," said a spokesperson.

Virgin will introduce the 50Mb package by the end of 2008.
