Videogame History Museum project in jeopardy
An initiative to raise funds for the Videogame History Museum is rapidly approaching it's deadline, with a significant financial gap still to bridge.
The Videogame History Museum is a planned permanent home for a massive collection of gaming history, the combined efforts of three dedicated gamers' forty years serious collecting.
Portions of the collection have been shown at various events including trade shows like E3, PAX and GDC, but at significant expense to all involved. The three collectors are seeking a proper home for this amazing exhibition which will allow it the exposure it deserves without breaking the bank.
Unfortunately, with just ten days to go, the museum's Kickstarter drive is still almost $10,000 short of its $30,000 goals, despite the combined generosity of nearly 200 backers at time of writing.
Writing on GameSetWatch, organiser Joe Santulli says the three aren't sure what to do next if the initial funding falls through, but are determined to succeed somehow.
"Maybe we're not the best people to embrace an entire industry, and maybe we don't look like the right type of people to do it. But we're also pretty confident that whether word gets out in time to beat the Kickstarter deadline or not, that it's going to happen eventually, and we'll be involved in it in some way or another," he wrote.
"I don't have kids, I don't have an heir to pass it on to. I fully intend to turn my collection over to the person or people that I think are doing the right thing."
