Viacom must pay Harmonix $299 million in disputed bonuses per Delaware Supreme Court ruling
The Delaware Supreme Court has ruled that Viacom must pay Harmonix bonus payments owed to the tune of $299 million.
Unless Viacom appeals the decision with the Supreme Court, or should the ruling be reconsidered for some, the decision will stand.
MTV Networks which is a subsidiary of Viacom purchased Harmonix in 2006 for $175 million, and was then sold in December 2010.
Harmonix was paid $150 million in bonuses during 2007, but stated it owed the stockholders nothing in 2008 and set out for a refund of the payment.
Walter Winshall, a representative for the stockholders, disputed this along with the figure and took it to an arbitration agency. The independent firm then decided in December 2011 that Viacom owed Harmonix an additional $383 million.
Viacom agreed to pay $84 million to settle the 2007 bonuses, but ended up going to court instead.
