Vertiginous Golf to be published by Surprise Attack

Australian indie publisher Surprise Attack has signed Vertiginous Golf, a golf sim sent in a steampunk dystopia, and a spiritual successor to the Vertigolf series.

Vertiginous Golf is currently available in beta form through its website for $10, but is headed to Steam Early Access in March for $15. Currently, only PC builds are available but Linux and Mac support is on the way. Developers Kineclo and Lone Elk - sister studios, in case you were wondering - are hoping to bring the community into development before and after Vertiginous Golf's full launch later this year.

The game differentiates itself from most mini golf sims via a couple of features; there's a mechanical hummingbird you can send tootling about the place to recon for your next shot, the courses incorporate floating elements and there's even a plot in there. Currently, it boasts physics-based gameplay, 15 courses and multiplayer for up to four participants.

The real draw, however, is its gorgeous aesthetic - the world of Vertiginous Golf is a dystopia in which smog blankets the earth. The poor, trapped below, can only experience the lifestyles of the rich in their airships and floating islands above through a virtual reality device.
