Verizon comments on FiOS TV for 360 rumor

Verizon's director of media relations, Bobbi Henson, has commented on yesterday's rumor that Microsoft, Comcast and Verizon were ironing out a deal which would see Xbox 360 being turned into a cable box of sorts. While Henson wouldn't say whether or not the rumor was true, she did say to "stay tuned for the future."

In her piece titled "A Borderless Entertainment Future", Henson said Verizon wouldn't comment on the "rumor or speculation" that the firm would offer FiOS TV services over Xbox 360, but that the service would be a "natural match for devices like gaming consoles."

"We’re in the business of breaking down old technology boundaries to create a borderless world where work, play and home become one virtual reality," she said. "Because FiOS TV is such a powerful, interactive, cloud-based service, it is a natural match for devices like game consoles, and we've demonstrated our ability to blend FiOS with gaming systems at events like the Consumer Electronics Show.

"The borderless world of entertainment is already enjoyed by many of our customers, with FiOS TV premium, video on demand and television content now available through smartphones and tablets on a variety of platforms, including Apple and Droid operating systems.

"We’re focused on bringing our powerful 4G LTE wireless, all-fiber-optic broadband/TV and global IP networks together to deliver innovative solutions that create and expand the exciting, new borderless world of entertainment.

"We’re not announcing any new products today, but stay tuned for the future."
