Valve's Dota 2 card game, Artifact, has a beta this fall

Valve confirmed during the annual Dota 2 tournament that its beta for Artifact will be held in October.

It's been five years since Valve released Dota 2, arguably the last major release from the studio. Thankfully, the long winter will finally end in November with Artifact, a digital collectible card game based on the Dota 2 universe.

Of course, even Valve games need beta testing, and Artifact is no exception. That's why Valve confirmed via Twitter that The International 2018 and PAX West attendees will get a copy of the game that includes October beta access. There's no confirmation whether an open beta will be held, but since Artifact isn't free-to-play, it's unlikely.

All Invitational attendees will get a free game code that includes beta access. Anyone at PAX West who joins the gameplay reveal will also obtain game codes.

Artifact launches for PC on November 28, 2018. Android and iOS editions will follow in 2019.
