Valve VR prototype won't be coming to market, company to collaborate with Oculus Rift
Valve brought what was by all account an amazing VR tech demo to its Steam developer Days event this week, but has no plans to develop a consumer product. Instead, it will work with Oculus Rift to help get the VR ball rolling on PC.
Valve's tech demo Crystal Cove sparked hugely positive comments from attendees on Twitter, with Oculus Rift CEO Palmer Luckey reportedly going so far as to say it's the best implementation of VR tech he's ever seen.
But the Steam creator isn't interested in shipping the hardware itself, nominating Oculus Rift as the "obvious candidate". Oculus Rift was in fact involved in helping Valve develop Crystal Cove's tracking.
Valve acknowledged a couple of issues still holding VR back, and said it will continue to work with Oculus Rift "to drive PC VR forward". Valve didn't entirely rule out the prospect of possibly producing its own tech in the future, but has no immediate plans to do so.

Thanks, Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
