Unreal Engine 4 demo'd, UDK hits 1.5 million installs
Lots of exciting news for fans of the tech behind games as well as the final products. Check out the next generation of Epic's ubiquitous Unreal Engine.
Unreal Engine 4 made its public debut on SpikeTV tonight, in an episode of GT.TV, which you can watch below. 1:00AMPDT. The engine was shown to press last month.
In other Unreal Engine news, Epic co-founder Mark Rein mentioned on Twitter yesterday that Epic had signed a "big new Unreal Engine 4 licensee" but couldn't give details. (I assume it's not Zynga.)
Rein also commented today that Unreal Development Kit - a free, revenue-share version of Unreal Engine - has reached 1.5 million installs. That's a heck of a lot of novice, indie and hobby developers with access to one of the industry's most respected toolsets.
