Uncharted novel, comic series get release dates

So, reading. It's quite the thing, apparently. While Kinect, Move, and their ilk try to do away with controllers as much as possible, reading requires only a pair of un-blinded eyes. Pretty wild, huh? Being the trailblazer that he is, Nathan Drake hopes to tame this amazing technology using a two-pronged attack composed of comics and a novel.

Both, of course, were announced a while back - with the novel originally emerging from the woodwork nearly a year ago - but now we know when they'll finally be cleared for launch. Via CVG, the novel, titled Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth, will be on shelves October 4. The comic series, meanwhile, will kick off after Uncharted 3's November 11 release date - marrying text to lavishly colored images on November 30.

Sadly, that's US-only for now. A UK date hasn't been announced, but we'll check with Sony to see whether you should get your hopes up, down, or in a full upright position. In the meantime, here's a bit of the novel's synopsis to whet your appetite/make the disappointment all the more crushing:

"Nathan Drake, treasure hunter and risk taker, has been called to New York City by the man who taught him everything about the 'antiquities acquisition business.' Victor Sullivan needs Drake's help. Sully's old friend, a world-famous archaeologist, has just been found murdered in Manhattan. Dodging assassins, Drake, Sully, and the dead man's daughter, Jada Hzujak, race from New York to underground excavations in Egypt and Greece."

Sounds, well, like an Uncharted story. Hopefully, though, they'll leave out the bits where he plummets to his for some reason black-and-white death roughly 500 times.
