UK Wiinjuries increased over the holidays
The British College of Osteopathic Medicine has reported an increase Wii-related injuries - which we're pleased to shorten to 'Wiinjuries' - over the holiday season.
Games Radar reports that osteopaths saw a 70 percent rise in patients seeking medical attention for gadget-related arm, shoulder and neck pain, "many of which involved the Wii".
Wrist injuries from frenzied bouts of tennis games were common, as holiday revelers overlooked adequate warm-up and stretching routines in favour of showing grandma just who is king of the living room.
The take-home message is to be sensible about using the Wii, as any other activity - stretch thoroughly, take breaks, and don't get carried away. That applies to more traditional gaming pursuits, too.
