UK game chart: Watch Dogs smashes new IP sales record, Mario Kart 8 goes big
Watch Dogs has released at top of the UK multiformat game chart and has smashed the week-one sales record for a new IP.
UKIE has revealed that Ubisoft's release has beaten the previous new IP record set three years ago by Rockstar's L.A. Noire by a sales increase of 58%, and is now the 17th best launch release in the UK to-date. It's also the best Ubisoft launch since Assassin's Creed 3, with 17% more sales.
In formats, Watch Dogs sold most on PS4, and out of all sales of Sony's new console last week, 53% of hardware sold was the Watch Dogs bundle.
Fellow newcomer Mario Kart 8 launched at number two, which boosted Wii U console sales 666%, with 82% of that figure made up of Mario Kart 8 bundles. It's the best UK launch for the series to-date.
