Ubisoft: Wii sales still 45% of business, "big believers" in Wii U
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed the French publisher draws a startling amount of its income from the Wii's coffers.
"Today, the Wii still is 45 percent of our business," Guillemot told Gamasutra.
"Just Dance, all those casual games, are selling extremely well."
Despite the depression surrounding the launch of the 3DS, which Ubisoft supported strongly, the publisher is excited for the upcoming Wii U.
"We are supporting the machine because we believe Nintendo is going to push it to another level," Guillemot said.
"The potential of the machine, and the tablet, I think is a good way to improve the potential gameplay. What we see is the ease of play is a part of the revolution we are seeing today. The fact that it's easier to access games is what can make more people play. Maybe they can do a good job there.
The CEO described Ubisoft's staff as "big believers" in the Wii U, and highlighted the console's HD capacbilities in addition to its unique controller.
The Wii U is expected to launch in northern summer 2012.
Thanks, GoNintendo.
