Ubisoft Toronto is working on five unannounced projects, says Raymond
Jade Raymond was in attendance at this years SXSW expo in Texas, and has revealed some of the goings-on at the Toronto-based studio in an interview.
Raymond spoke to Geoff Keighley and confirmed that there are five projects currently in development at the Toronto-based studio, two of which are being co-developed with other studios, we're assuming this means other Ubisoft studios.
"There are definitely a lot of plates spinning," said Raymond. "None of them have been announced," she added.
The studio manager also commented on Ubisoft's desire to bring some of its game franchises to other forms of media, such as film and comic books, "Our business is making games, so we have to make sure we’re making good games, first and foremost, I don’t think we can think out the gate, ‘How is this going to be a good movie?’ I don’t know anything about movies. I’ve never made a movie in my life."
Raymond also expressed interest in creating franchises that are specific to mobile platforms, not just ports of console games. "A good game on those devices is different from a good game on consoles, so I definitely believe they deserve their own franchises," she said.
How many of those unannounced titles do you think are Assassins Creed and Splinter Cell titles? Let us know your thoughts.
Thanks, The Star.
