Ubisoft - Rainbow Six: Patriots hasn't been derailed

Former creative director David Sears and senior Ubisoft Montreal staff have said a recent team shuffle hasn't adversely affected Rainbow Six: Patriots' development.

Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat told GameInformer that all the team members rumoured to be off the project wre had moved off the project, but that the game was still on track for a 2013 release with no major changes.

"We're definitely going on with Rainbow, too, evolving the vision that came from David [Sears]'s initial input," he said.

Sears, who had served as creative director on Patriots, iss till at Ubisoft Montreal, working on "a major project for a major brand".

"Another opportunity arose that was a really good fit, and I am more than delighted to contribute to that," he said.

"To paraphrase Mark Twain, I'm not dead, and Rainbow is still very much alive. One of the things that's really important for everyone to understand is senior management and the editorial group challenged me to create something plausible, relevant, and that touches on the current fears of the U.S. citizens to the point that I was almost surprised myself we were taking these creative risks.

"They are still behind it. I spent time working on it because I love it, but there comes a point where you give the vision to everybody and they embrace it and start telling me what the vision is now."

Patriots is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
