Ubisoft just announced an arena shooter called Atomega that you can play without killing anyone

Atomega is a new, retro-style arena shooter from the team behind Grow Home, and Grow Up.

Though in saying that it's an arena shooter, you kind of sell this game short, as there's not quite anything you can compare it to in the genre. Atomega's world is at the end of time, where only Exoforms exist.

Exoforms are "post-biological" lifeforms that the description says are the "last distant relative to man and machine." The Exoforms decide to fight for dominance, which is where the arena comes in.

In Atomega, the goal is to acquire mass. You can either do this is by simply avoiding firefights and peacefully collecting it, or fighting others for it. Mass is used to evolve an Exoform from the small and nimble Atom, into the big Omega - hence the name. The player with the most points at the end of the round (gained by picking up mass) wins.

Atomega supports eight players in free-for-all-style, ten-minute matches, and it's going to release on Steam on September 19. Moments ago, Ubisoft dropped the surprise announcement alongside the trailer and screenshots you see above.
