Ubisoft hires a 15-year DICE veteran to lead its new Stockholm studio
Ubisoft has established a new studio in Stockholm, Sweden, and the worldwide publisher picked a veteran of the games industry to lead it.
The leader in question is Patrick Bach, former manager of Battlefield makers DICE. Back spent 15 years at the storied developer in different leadership roles, and left almost a year ago.
"When talking to Ubisoft about values and goals I noticed that we shared a lot of thinking, especially when it came to the creative and practical process of making games," Bach said of the new partnership.
"I feel like I will be able to use my potential in a new and different way in the Ubisoft family."
The new studio, simply called Ubisoft Stockholm, will work with The Division developers at Ubisoft Massive on the Avatar game. The project was announced earlier this year for PC and consoles. but does not yet a release window.
The new studio is currently hiring in different disciplines, with the goal of reaching 100 staff in two years.
Ubisoft has over 30 studios worldwide, and only recently opened two new ones in Berlin, Germany, and Bordeaux, France.
