Twitch to begin selling video games, streamers can get a cut of sales
Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Digital Extremes, Hi-Rez Studios, tinyBuild, Paradox Interactive, Trion Worlds, Vlambeer all sign up.
Twitch will begin selling video games and digital content directly through its site, allowing streamers to take a cut of sales.
Developers will be able to sell directly to fans watching games on Twitch with special offers, and Twitch also plans a Twitch Crate to buyers, offering up "randomized drops of items tailored to Twitch users, such as exclusive emotes, chat badges, and Bits for Cheering."
Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Digital Extremes, Hi-Rez Studios, tinyBuild, Paradox Interactive, Trion Worlds, Vlambeer and more have already signed up for the service, which launches this spring.
Streamers who partner with Twitch for the service will get 5 percent of sales, with plans to roll out the service in Spring with sales in dollars and local versions to follow.
