Yes, Twitch Plays Dark Souls has been successful. In the end it did have to rely on the old continual pausing trick to get there, but even with this arguable cheating it's a hell of an accomplishment.
According to Kotaku, the whole playthrough took 43 days, eight hours, 14 minutes, and 23 seconds with 903 deaths - significantly better than many human attempts.
