Tropico 5 has been confirmed for PS4. It joins a host of other formats receiving the dictatorship game at some point this year.

The game was already announced for PC, Mac and Xbox 360, but the PS4 edition will see the Tropico series land on a Sony format for the first time. There's still no word on the Xbox One edition.

Tropico 5 will feature co-op and competitive multiplayer for up to four players, as well as Dynasties, which enables players to pass their dictatorship on to their children for centuries. You can do so from the early days of colonial America, through both World Wars and up to the present.

The game also includes advanced trading mechanics, technology, scientific research trees and island exploration.

"We are delighted to be able to work with Sony to bring Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 and enter the next generation market,” said Andrew Johnson, MD at Kalypso Media UK. “The PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5 will expand the Tropico brand to the new generation hardware and to a new generation of gamers."

Tropico 5 is currently without a 2014 release window.
